Coto de Imaz Gran Reserva is made exclusively from a selection of Tempranillo grapes from our own vineyards in the Cenicero area (Rioja Alta). This wine follows the strictest guidelines of the Gran Reserva category: a prolonged maceration to ensure structure and a minimum aging of 24 months in American and French oak barrels, followed by a bottle resting of at least 36 months. This long process polishes the tannins and develops an extraordinary aromatic complexity.
In appearance, it presents a ruby red color with intense brick-colored edges, a sign of its long aging. On the nose, it is mature, elegant, and very complex; aromas of fruit in liqueur and red fruit jam stand out, integrated with notes of cocoa, tobacco, sweet spices, and subtle hints of leather. On the palate, it is a round, silky, and balanced wine, with vibrant acidity that maintains its freshness despite the years. The finish is persistent, complex, and very refined. It is the perfect companion for game dishes, long-cooked red meats, roasted lamb, and very mature cheeses.
