Oremus Tokaji Aszú 3 Puttonyos is a sweet wine from Hungary, recognized for its complexity, made from grapes affected by noble rot. With an aging period of 2 to 3 years and an additional month in the bottle, it is ideal for pairing with desserts or foie gras.
Oremus Tokaji Aszú 3 Puttonyos is an iconic sweet wine from the Tokaj Hegyalia region in Hungary, produced by Tokaj Oremus, which is owned by Vega Sicilia. This wine is produced exclusively in exceptional harvests when the climate allows for the development of noble rot (Botrytis cinerea), giving the grapes their unique richness and complexity. The harvest is manual and occurs in several passes between late September and early November. After an initial two-day maceration, the must ferments slowly in new Hungarian oak barrels for up to two months, followed by aging lasting 2 to 3 years in barrels and one more year in the bottle before hitting the market. With varieties such as Furmint, Zéta, and Sárgamuskotály, this wine reaches an alcohol content of 11% vol.
In terms of tasting, Oremus Tokaji Aszú 3 Puttonyos presents a bright, light golden color. Its aromas showcase intense notes of honey, stone fruits like peach and apricot, as well as quince and citrus hints of lime. On the palate, it is sweet, elegant, and fresh, with vibrant acidity that balances the sweetness, leaving a long and silky finish. It is ideal as a dessert wine, to accompany foie gras or blue cheeses, and is recommended to be served at a temperature of 9 ºC. This wine can be enjoyed now or stored for up to 15 years under optimal conditions.
