Pétalos del Bierzo is a red wine produced by Descendientes de J. Palacios, a project aiming to highlight the quality of the indigenous Mencía variety from the Bierzo region in northwestern Spain. With manual harvesting and a careful fermentation process in wooden and stainless steel tanks, this wine undergoes prolonged maceration and malolactic fermentation in closed vats. It then ages in French oak barrels and foudres for about 10 months. Its attractive cherry-red color with violet hues makes it visually appealing. On the nose, it stands out with aromas of ripe red and black fruits like strawberries and blackberries, alongside floral and spicy notes, plus a minerality stemming from the terroir. On the palate, it is perceived as fresh and balanced, with ripe tannins and a persistent finish, making it ideal for pairing with roasted red meats or traditional stews.
