Scala Dei Masdeu is a wine that comes from an emblematic vineyard located at almost 800 meters above sea level, the highest of Cellers de Scala Dei, on the slope of the Sierra del Montsant. Planted in goblet in 1974, on red clay and limestone soils, this vineyard is heir to the historic plots that the monks already cultivated with garnacha centuries ago. A wine that captures the essence of the most authentic Priorat, elaborated faithfully to tradition.
Harvest: October, manual, with grape transport in small boxes to preserve its quality.
Fermentation: With 100% of the stem, foot-trodden grapes and without the addition of yeast.
Tank: Fermentation and pressing in a 3,500-liter cement tank.
Aging: 18 months in cement tanks and foudres.
Appearance: Intense cherry red with garnet hues.
Nose: Deep aromas of ripe red fruit, Mediterranean herbs, spicy touches, and a mineral background that reflects its calcareous soil.
Palate: Powerful and elegant, with mature tannins, silky texture, and lively acidity that brings freshness. Long, complex, and persistent finish.
Perfect with grilled meats, game stews, lamb ribs, and aged cheeses.
