Herència Altés Lo Grau de L'InquisidorThe first vintage of Lo Grau de L'Inquisidor was in 2015, with the aim of producing a serious wine that embodies the power and depth of flavor from aging, while also maintaining the freshness characteristic of wines from the region. The grapes come from a trusted producer, whose vines are located very close to a vineyard owned by the winery. The grapes are hand-picked into small 15 kg boxes. After spending 24 hours in a cold chamber, the grapes are destemmed and placed in a concrete tank to begin spontaneous alcoholic fermentation with the native yeast, accompanied by light manual punching down every day. The wine then undergoes malolactic fermentation and is aged in 500-liter French oak barrels for 31 months. It has a dark and very intense color. The nose reveals notes of violets, cocoa, and spices. It is very rich on the palate, deep, with a lot of volume and structure. Sweet tannins but with a very lively freshness. A long and persistent finish. This highly sought-after wine has a limited production of 3,300 bottles and pairs wonderfully with stewed meat or a selection of aged cheeses.
