Pirata 2016 is a wine that breaks from the conventional, as it does not belong to any designation of origin and is presented exclusively in Magnum format. This rarity has emerged from the collaboration of two prestigious producers: Benjamín Romeo and Ismael Gozalo. It is made from Verdejo grapes from the municipality of Nieva in Segovia and complemented by a mix of white varieties from La Rioja, such as Viura, Garnacha Blanca, and Malvasía, grown in San Vicente de la Sonsierra. The vineyards used are pre-phylloxera, with vines over 140 years old, offering a low production yield of 1.5 to 2 Kg per vine in Segovia and 1 Kg per vine in La Rioja. Vinification is carried out separately, where each variety ferments in French oak barrels for a period of 3 months. Subsequently, the wine matures in a large foudre, 1,300 liters made in Germany, for about 10 months, alongside its lees. This process gives the wine a unique personality and complexity that will surely attract those looking to explore new horizons in the wine universe. Ideal for pairing with fish dishes or salads.
