Conde de los Andes Blanco Duermevela 2016 is a white Rioja produced by Bodegas Ollauri – Conde de los Andes , a historic winery in Rioja Alta linked to the legacy of the former Paternina estate. The wine belongs to a special limited series created to demonstrate the ageing potential of great Rioja white wines and is only produced in selected vintages.
It is made from Viura grapes sourced from vineyards around 30 years old located in Rioja Alta. The region’s limestone soils and Atlantic-influenced climate provide the grapes with freshness and structure, allowing the wine to develop complexity and ageing potential.
The grapes are hand-harvested , typically at the beginning of October. After pressing, fermentation takes place in new fine-grained French oak barrels , where the wine remains on its lees for several months with regular bâtonnage , gaining texture, richness and aromatic complexity. The wine then continues ageing in the same barrels before bottling.
On the nose it shows elegant aromas of ripe white fruit, citrus and white flowers , complemented by hints of vanilla, toasted oak and subtle nutty notes from barrel ageing. On the palate it is balanced, fresh and structured , with a creamy texture and a long finish combining fruit, mineral undertones and gentle spice.
This is a gastronomic white wine with excellent ageing potential , pairing beautifully with baked fish, seafood, rice dishes, poultry and Mediterranean cuisine.
