Contino Reserva 2021 is an exceptional red wine that falls within the Denomination of Origin Calificada Rioja, produced by Viñedos del Contino, a historic estate in the Rioja Alavesa region. This wine is made with a careful selection of grapes from various micro-parcels surrounding the Finca San Rafael, a vineyard highlighted by its strategic location next to the Ebro River, where clay-limestone, alluvial, and sandy soils combine to provide unmatched complexity to the final product. Mainly made from Tempranillo grapes, Contino Reserva 2021 also contains small amounts of Mazuelo, Graciano, and Garnacha, indigenous varieties that contribute to the wine's freshness and aromatic depth. After a fermentation process in stainless steel and concrete tanks, the wine ages in French and American oak barrels for 18 months, followed by bottle refinement. On the nose, this wine offers intense aromas of ripe red and black fruits, with floral and balsamic notes, alongside a spicy background from its wood aging. On the palate, it presents itself as an elegant and balanced wine with fine tannins that ensure a long finish, marrying the freshness of the fruit with the subtle toasted nuances of the wood.
