Dalmau 2019 Magnum (1.5 L) is a standout red wine from the Denomination of Origin Calificada Rioja, produced by the renowned Marqués de Murrieta winery at its historic Finca Ygay, south of Logroño. This wine comes exclusively from the Canajas estate, a plot planted in 1950 at about 465 meters above sea level, contributing to its uniqueness and quality. A careful blend of Tempranillo (86%), Cabernet Sauvignon (12%), and Graciano (2%) is used in its production, providing structure, aromatic intensity, and notable aging potential. The production begins with a manual harvest and a strict selection of clusters, followed by a fermentation process where each variety is vinified separately in stainless steel tanks. The wine then ages for approximately 19 months in new French Allier oak barrels and goes through a period of bottle refinement before its market release. This meticulous process results in one of the most modern and structured wines from the winery, displaying deep and elegant complexity on the nose, full of ripe dark fruit aromas like plums and blueberries, complemented by floral notes, spices, cocoa, tobacco, and subtle toasting from aging.
