Viña Coqueta Reserva 2014, from Remírez de Ganuza winery, is a wine made at the historic Viña Coqueta estate in Samaniego. This vineyard, planted in 1975, offers limited production that reflects one of the most personal expressions of Rioja Alavesa. The winemaking process is based on rigorous manual selection, using only the shoulders of the grapes, which are the most balanced part. The wine undergoes prolonged aging of over two years in new French oak barrels, followed by bottle aging that grants complexity and elegance. On the nose, it reveals aromas of ripe dark fruits, plum, forest fruits, cocoa, balsamic notes, graphite, and sweet spices, with elegant toasted hints. On the palate, it is broad and deep, with integrated fine tannins, great concentration, and an excellent balance between power and freshness. Its long, complex, and persistent finish confirms its quality as a Rioja aging wine.
