Disqualified 2016 is a red wine from the winery Réquiem Hispania, located in Peñafiel, a prestigious wine region of Ribera del Duero. This wine is made from 100% Tinto Fino grapes, also known as Tempranillo, and represents a unique approach to vinification. The name "Disqualified" hints at its distancing from the traditional classification of Ribera del Duero wines, even though the grapes are cultivated in this region. In the 2016 vintage, the production process includes meticulous manual harvesting, fermentation using indigenous yeasts in small stainless steel tanks, and careful aging of 16 months in new and second-use French oak barrels.
