Conceived by Oxer Bastegieta, Kalamity was born in the 2014 vintage to be the expression of his best vineyards grown in Ellvillar and Cardenas. This modern rioja is on its way to being an epoch-making wine, as evidenced by the successive high Parker scores obtained since that inaugural vintage. The current vintage, according to Luis Gutíérrez in his review forThe Wine Advocate, is not only the best to date, on the verge of the desired 100 points, but also Bastegieta's own favorite due to its floral character and the quality of the tannins.
