Castillo Ygay Blanco Gran Reserva Especial 1986, produced by Marqués de Murrieta, is a true gem in the wine world. This extraordinary wine has achieved 100 Parker Points, becoming the first white wine in Spain's history to achieve such a distinction. Regarded as the Emperor of Spanish wines, Luis Gutiérrez, critic for 'The Wine Advocate', has called it one of the best whites he has tasted. The grapes come from the Pago Capellanía, planted in 1945 at an altitude of 485 meters in the Rioja Alta. With 97% Viura and 3% Malvasía, this wine was hand-harvested in early October under optimal climatic conditions. With an alcohol content of 13.5% and high acidity, its vinification took place in American oak tanks. After fermentation, it aged for 252 months in barrel and 67 months in concrete, being bottled in 2014.
