Martín Códax Albariño 2023 is an emblematic white wine from Bodegas Martín Códax, renowned in the Val do Salnés, the heart of the Albariño variety in the D.O. Rías Baixas. Founded in 1986, the winery is inspired by the Galician troubadour Martín Códax, whose medieval songs evoke the sea and Galician culture. The wine is made exclusively from Albariño grapes from selected plots, aiming to preserve varietal identity and Atlantic character. It is fermented in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures, without subsequent aging, to highlight the fruit, flowers, and freshness of Albariño. It presents a lemon-yellow color with greenish reflections. On the nose, ripe citrus notes like lime and mandarin are perceptible, along with a pronounced floral character of hawthorn, jasmine, and orange blossom, with a herbaceous background reminiscent of hay. On the palate, it is enveloping and fresh, with a balance that emphasizes the citrus expression in the retronasal passage. This profile makes it versatile enough to pair with seafood, fish, rice, white meats, and fresh cheeses. It is recommended to serve at 12 °C.
