Protos Roble 2023 is a red wine from the Ribera del Duero produced by Bodegas Protos , one of the historic wineries of the region. This wine represents the modern, fruit-driven style of Ribera del Duero, with a short oak ageing that adds complexity without masking the fruit.
The grapes come from vineyards located across the appellation, mainly in Burgos and Valladolid , and are made from 100% Tempranillo (Tinta del País). The continental climate and clay-limestone soils contribute to balanced ripening and structure.
After manual harvesting, fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks to preserve aromatic intensity. The wine is then aged for around 4 to 6 months in American and French oak barrels , adding subtle spice and toasted notes.
On the nose it shows aromas of fresh red and black fruits such as cherry, raspberry and blackberry , along with hints of vanilla, spice and light toast. On the palate it is juicy, balanced and easy-drinking , with soft tannins and a pleasant finish.
The Magnum format (1.5 L) allows for slower ageing and better preservation of freshness, making it ideal for sharing. It pairs well with grilled meats, cured meats, rice dishes, pasta and tapas.
