Protos Verdejo Reserva 2020 is a white wine from D.O. Rueda made by Bodegas Protos from 100% Verdejo from old vineyards located in higher areas of the appellation. It is a more complex and structured interpretation of this variety, with an elaboration designed to show its capacity for evolution and its gastronomic character.
After the grapes are harvested by hand and carefully selected, the wine is fermented in new French oak barrels , where it remains for around 12 months on its lees , with periodic batonnage to add volume and complexity. This process results in a Verdejo with greater aromatic depth and a broader texture than the usual young styles.
The nose is intense and elegant, with aromas of stone fruit, citrus notes and herbal hints , accompanied by nuances of vanilla, toast and nuts from barrel aging. The palate is ample and structured, with good acidity, creamy texture and a long, persistent finish. A white wine with great personality, ideal to accompany fish, seafood, rice or white meats.
