Quiñón de Valmira 2024 Magnum is a wine made by Álvaro Palacios in Rioja Oriental. It comes from a plot of just 3 hectares in Monte Yerga, Alfaro, at approximately 616 meters of altitude, with limestone and clay-iron soils, southeast orientation, and dry farming. Its composition is dominated by 85% Garnacha Tinta, complemented by traditional varieties from the area. The 2024 vintage experienced a relatively cool and humid climate. After the harvest on October 12, the grapes fermented with native yeasts in wooden tanks, with some whole clusters and prolonged maceration. The aging lasted about 13 months in large oak containers. On the nose, it offers wild strawberry, red currant, rosehip, and fresh red fruits, with floral, mineral, herbal, and spicy notes. On the palate, it presents a silky texture, vibrant acidity, fine tannins, and a long mineral finish. The Magnum format of 1.5 liters favors a slower evolution in the bottle and is suitable for aging. With an allocation of only 60 magnums for Vila Viniteca, its availability is very limited.
