Leirana O Pradiño 2020 is a single vineyard Albariño from O Viquiño, Sanxenxo, a region very close to the sea and at low altitude, giving a notable Atlantic character. Its vineyard, planted in pergola over sandy gneiss soils, confers a strong minerality and freshness to the wine. This Albariño is made ambitiously, moving away from the classic style of young Albariño; it ferments and ages for about a year in new large volume barrels, followed by another year of refinement in bottle. This process imparts depth and structure, as well as great wood integration. On the nose, it presents a complex and elegant profile: citrus notes, stone fruit, and floral nuances intertwine with memories of fine wood, spices, and a marked mineral background. On the palate, it is rich, broad, and structured, with a well-integrated acidity that provides balance. The finish is long, salty, and very persistent, clearly reflecting its Atlantic origin. It is a high-end wine with aging potential resembling great European whites more than the young wines of the region. It is ideal to pair with fatty fish, prepared seafood, rice dishes, or more complex dishes where its structure and depth shine.
