Viña Real Reserva is a red wine made with Tempranillo (90%) and Mazuelo, Garnacha Tinta, and Graciano (10%).

Produced by Viña Real wineries, the winery that gave rise to the company in 1879. And even today it retains its original location: the wine district of Barrio de la Estación in Haro, in Rioja Alta.

Production and aging

Viña Real Reserva is mainly made from the Tempranillo variety, complemented with Mazuelo, Garnacha Tinta, and Graciano.

For its production, a cold pre-fermentation maceration and alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature are carried out.

After the fermentation process, the wine undergoes an aging of 22 months in new barrels with manual rackings every 4 months. Before bottling, the wine is clarified. Once bottled, Viña Real Reserva rests for 2 years.

Tasting notes of Viña Real Reserva

  • Appearance: Viña Real Reserva has a ruby red color, with hints of cherry.
  • Nose: Good intensity on the nose, where spicy aromas of oak and vanilla mix with hints of red fruits, blackberry, and ripe fruit.
  • Palate: It is a warm, broad, and long wine, with adequate acidity and noble tannins.

Pairing

Viña Real Reserva is ideal to accompany Iberian acorn-fed ham, roast pork, duck, cured cheeses, and stews. It is recommended to decant before consuming and serve at a temperature between 16 and 18ºC.
