Production and Aging
Aalto 2020 is a red wine with aging made from 100% Tinto Fino grapes. Hand-harvested.
This vintage has been characterized by a very dry autumn and winter. Rainfall has been less than 60% of a normal year. The vineyard sprouted very early as the winter ended with unusually high temperatures. Later, in late April and early May, a cold spell occurred that caused significant losses in the vineyard. To compensate, rains arrived at the end of August, facilitating the plant to complete its optimal ripening cycle.
The harvest began on September 19th. The grapes entered the winery in optimal sanitary conditions and with great quality.
Aalto ferments and ages for 16 months in new and semi-new barrels of French and American oak.
Tasting Note of Aalto 2020
- Appearance: Aalto has a cherry red color with violet undertones.
- Nose: On the nose, it presents a great fruity intensity along with wood aromas in the background, giving it complexity but without losing freshness.
- Palate: On the palate, it is ample, structured, and elegant, as expected from an exceptional ripening, without rough edges and with a tannic structure in perfect harmony with the alcohol and acidity.
Pairing
Aalto is ideal to accompany stews, roasted red meats, big game, roasted lamb, and duck.
It is recommended to serve at a temperature of 14-16ºC.
