COINTREAU LIQUEUR
Cointreau liqueur is the result of a blend of sweet and bitter oranges distilled with traditional methods, water, sugar and alcohol.
It was created in 1875 by Edouard Cointreau in Angers, France. Elaborated through centenary methods to obtain the most intense aromas of orange peels. These are dried in the sun, macerated and distilled in copper stills to obtain an essential oil that gives the liqueur its intense and natural aroma, between sweet and bitter. This oil is mixed with alcohol, water, sugar and spices.
It was usually drunk after dinner or as a digestive drink. Later it became the triple dry most used to make cocktails such as Margarita, Cosmopolitan or Sidecar among others. It can also be taken alone or on the rocks.
