Icelandic Liquen, tray of 70 grams
Icelandic lichen is an organism that grows and takes on a moss-like appearance, but technically it is a plant consisting of two species in symbiosis that form its structure. It is a combination of a type of fungus and algae, joined together for the mutual benefit of both as one cannot live without the other. For this reason it is not correct to call this lichen "moss", even though its appearance is very similar in several respects.
