Louis Roederer Collection 242 is a cuvée made mainly from Chardonnay, as well as Pinot noir and Meunier from the Vallée de la Marne.
The Louis Roederer Collection 242 cuvée is the 242nd blend of the House since its creation. It is made from 34% Reserva Perpetua, 10% wood-aged reserve wines from the 2009, 2011, 2013, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 vintages. Finally, the cuvée is completed with 56% of the successes of the 2017 vintage: mainly Chardonnay, as well as Pinot noir and Meunier from the Vallée de la Marne.
Collection 242 is based on a selection of plots chosen from the heart of the Champagne terroir, adapted to its identity, where sustainable viticultural practices prevail.
Organic farming, biodynamically inspired practices, pruning that respects the flow of sap and the preservation of plant matter to ensure its renewal. In this way, they have rigorously redefined all the Collection plots, those of their Louis Roederer properties and those coming from their historical partners, to preserve only those rooted in this "Heart of the Terroir": sites, exposures, lands with a strong identity, outstanding, precise, mostly chalk soils, the most suitable for the long term, to bring us, vintage after vintage, the best of their fruits.
Louis Roederer Collection 242 is a deep and nuanced cuvée, to be enjoyed now or after a few years of cellaring, thanks to the new complexity and uniqueness of each blend.
This epicurean champagne is the House's great wine of several vintages, its most faithful standard-bearer! Collection opens on notes of white fruits, citrus zest and acacia blossom, followed, after aeration, by a light touch of toasted hazelnut, the hallmark of the chardonnay.
The slender, very pure structure ends with a very pleasant saline note. Freshness, precision, finesse: this is Collection, a champagne of total evidence, which reveals complex and precise flavours throughout the tasting.
