Luis Cañas Crianza, made with Tempranillo and a touch of Garnacha, is undoubtedly a wine with an extraordinary quality/price ratio.
In 1970, Luis Cañas founded the winery that bears his name, with the objective of producing the best harvest wines. In 1989, it passed into the hands of his son Juan Luis, who prioritizes the production of high-quality aged wines.
Luis Cañas Crianza is made from the Tempranillo variety (95%) and a little bit of Garnacha (5%) which gives it a slightly more fruity character. The grapes used for Luis Cañas Crianza come from vineyards with an average age of 30 years. After being harvested, the grapes ferment at a controlled temperature of 26º for 20 days.
Luis Cañas Crianza ages for 12 months in French oak barrels (70%) and American oak barrels (30%), and finally rests for another 9 months in the bottle.
Luis Cañas Crianza is ideal to accompany cured meats, red meats, poultry, fatty fish, game, medium-aged cheeses, spicy dishes, and hot stews such as legumes or traditional Riojan-style potatoes. It is recommended to serve at a temperature between 16 and 18ºC.
