Marqués de Murrieta Reserva is an exemplary red wine that embodies the best virtues of classic Rioja.
The history of Marqués de Murrieta begins in the mid-19th century, when Luciano Murrieta y García-Lemoine, Marquis of Murrieta, decided to transform Rioja wine into a noble wine.
Marqués de Murrieta Reserva is a blend of grapes from the Tempranillo (90%), Garnacha tinta (3%), Mazuelo (4%), and Graciano (4%) varieties. As for the elaboration, after destemming and gently crushing the clusters, the grapes ferment in stainless steel tanks. Subsequently, maceration takes place for 8 days. Once the fermentation process is complete, the solid parts of the grape are pressed in vertical presses to obtain a greater extraction of color and mature tannins that reside in the skins.
Finally, Marqués de Murrieta Reserva ages for 17 months in American oak barrels and 24 months in the bottle.
Marqués de Murrieta Reserva is ideal for accompanying grilled red meats, aged cheeses, roasts, and roasted pork.
It is recommended to aerate this red wine for a few minutes before consumption, and to consume it at a temperature between 16-18ºC.
