Frontonio Microcósmico Macabeo is named after San Frontonio, patron saint of Épila, a town nestled in northwestern Spain where this wine is produced. Legend has it that San Frontonio was beheaded by the Romans. His body was buried in a cemetery and his head was thrown into the Ebro River, near Zaragoza. Miraculously, his head was found upstream, on one of the banks of the Jalón River, in Épila.
