Domaine Léon Barral Valinière is a red wine made from Mourvèdre and Syrah by Domaine Leon Barral in the French region of Languedoc-Rousillon.

It is perhaps Didier Barral's most original wine, a pure Faugères that expresses all the essence of the Domaine and its slate soils. Matured in oak barrels for 3 years and 10% in new barrels.

Made from 85% Mourvèdre and 15% Syrah from vineyards on steep slate slopes. Didier's vineyards are entirely managed by his cows, another great passion of the winemakers.

On the heights of Faugères, specifically Lentheric, Didier Barral runs Domaine Léon Barral. Recognised as one of the leading exponents of French biodynamics, he farms his 13 hectares in a "traditional" way with cattle.

Léon Barral Valinière Tasting Notes

Léon Barral Valinière is a rich red wine with expressive, intense and complex aromas of ripe black fruit, dried rose and spices.

The palate is full, rich and abundant. It has round tannins and pleasant acidity. The finish is long and persistent.

Pays d'Hérault Domaine Leon Barral Blanc is a white wine made from Terrets Gris and Blanc with a little Viognier and Roussanne, by Domaine Leon Barral in the Languedoc-Rousillon region of France.

The 25ha estate, named after Didier's father, is completely biodynamic, yields are minimal and only wild yeasts are used in the winemaking process

Tasting Note for Pays d'Hérault Domaine Leon Barral

Pale straw yellow in color. Very aromatic nose of mango, pineapple and honey. Intense dry but full-bodied on the palate, showing more tropical fruit and citrus flavors. The finish is fresh and lively, making it an excellent food wine
