Bodegas y Viñedos Anceña presents to us the Red Wine Terraesteban Crianza from the D.O. Ribera del Duero (Spain), made from several varieties of 100% Tinto Fino (Tempranillo) grapes.
The Red Wine Terraesteban Crianza is obtained from vineyards over 15 years old located in Quintanilla de Tres Barrios, in the province of Soria. This wine is 100% Tempranillo, from vineyards that produce less than 5,000 kg/Ha in dryland with poor soils, gravelly pebbles, soft sands, and calcareous background, facing south on hillsides.
The harvest is done manually in 200 kg boxes and carefully selected in the vineyard before reaching the winery, where a vibrating selection table is used. The maximum time between harvesting and fermentation is 3 hours.
After fermentation, a minimum pre-fermentation maceration of 48 hours is carried out, followed by controlled fermentation at temperatures below 30ºC. The total maceration lasts from 18 to 25 days with periodic pump-overs and manual punch-downs every 4 or 6 hours. After determining the end of maceration through tastings and chemical analysis, gentle pressing and racking are carried out after 48 hours to remove the coarse lees. Spontaneous malolactic fermentation takes place at 22ºC.
The wine ages in fine-grain American oak barrels, split French oak, and selected Hungarian oak for 12 to 14 months, depending on the vintage. Subsequently, it rests in the bottle rack for at least 6 months before being released to the market.
Terraesteban Crianza reflects dedication and excellence in every step of its production, resulting in a complex, structured, and elegant wine that captures the essence of its origin in the vineyards of Quintanilla de Tres Barrios.
