Scala Dei Masdeu is a red wine produced by Scala Dei with Grenache in the D.O.Ca. Priorat.
Masdeu is the highest altitude vineyard owned by Cellers de Scala Dei. The soil is red clay and limestone. This vineyard, facing southeast and replanted in 1974, is one of the vineyards that the monks had planted with Grenache for centuries.
The Grenache vines from which the grapes for this wine are made were planted in 1974 at an altitude of almost 800 metres above sea level at its highest point. Masdeu is vinified ancestrally and aged for almost a year and a half in cement vats and foudres.
Very expressive, with fine aromas of red and black fruits, Mediterranean herbs and fruits of the forest.
In the mouth it is ample with marked tannins and hints of minerals and spices. Succulent red fruit, good acidity and balance with a long, warm finish.
