Tokyo Gomez Rojo Cuvee Minami is a red wine made from Syrah and Petit Verdot in the IGP Murcia by the Casa Rojo winery. The Syrah grapes come from a single vineyard called MINAMI, located southwest of the winery. On the other hand, the Petit Verdot comes entirely from a single vineyard called La Cueva del Inglés, which is located to the east of the winery. Both vineyards are located in the La Raja Valley, on the northern slope of the Sierra de La Pila Regional Park, in the Altiplano of the Region of Murcia. It is important to note that both vineyards are 7 years old.
The Syrah underwent fermentation in a 10,000-litre French Saury oak foudre, while the Petit Verdot was fermented in two 500-litre French oak barrels, with the lid removed. Both varieties then underwent malolactic fermentation in a set of 6 new French oak barrels, each with a capacity of 500 litres. These barrels were used for the ageing process for a period of 12 months, which lasted until Christmas 2022. The barrels came from cooperages such as Adour, Demptos, Rousseau and Saury.
This wine is characterised by its impressive concentration in all its aspects. The wine has a deep purple colour and a high depth of colour. In terms of aroma, the complexity and depth are remarkable, highlighting the presence of ripe black fruits, even with hints of stewed fruit. These notes are complemented by balsamic and spicy touches that evoke its place of origin. However, it is on the palate that this wine unfolds its full potential. It presents itself as a full-bodied wine, with a significant presence, but balanced by an excellent acidity that gives it friendliness and a very marked persistence on the palate.
