The Vino Blanco Peña Cruzada is an enological gem that comes from an exceptional plot located between San Martín de Valdeiglesias and the Marañones estate, on the limits of the Sierra de Gredos. Its 0.7 hectares of old albillo real vines, cultivated in a unique soil of pink granite, give this wine an unmistakable character.
The Peña Cruzada plot is surrounded by forests and exceptional biodiversity, which creates a perfect balance between the vineyard and its environment. The vines, with over 50 years of age, benefit from a gentle slope and a trailing posture that defines their identity. The pink granite soils, rocky and sandy in texture, facilitate organic and respectful viticulture, highlighting the commitment to the environment throughout the project.
The 2022 vintage was marked by challenging weather. After a rainy winter, the spring was dry and hot, causing a delay in vine budding until late April. The summer was characterized by several heatwaves that, although slowed down growth in young plants, allowed for rapid and homogenous ripening. The harvest of this plot took place on August 4th, ensuring the perfect health of the grapes.
The manual harvest in 12-kilogram boxes allowed for the preservation of the quality of the clusters. After gentle pressing, the must fermented in used barrels of 228 and 600 liters, where the wine aged for 10 months on its lees. This process provides a unique texture and aromatic complexity to the wine. Low levels of sulfites were used in its production to ensure its purity.
The Peña Cruzada reflects the essence of pink granite in every sip, with a floral and mineral expression that highlights its origin. In the mouth, it stands out for its balance, freshness, and a long and elegant finish, reflecting the harmony between the albillo real variety, the climate, and the terroir of this unique plot.
The Peña Cruzada is the ultimate expression of an exceptional vineyard and the artisanal care that defines the wines of San Martín de Valdeiglesias. Ideal for those seeking a white wine that combines tradition, elegance, and authenticity.
