Amprius is a unique winery located in Matarraña, Teruel, a region in Bajo Aragón that deserves its comparison to the Spanish Tuscany. Landscapes of olive trees and century-old vineyards, villages of golden stone, a Mediterranean light that bathes everything, and a unique microclimate that turns each estate into a world of its own. It is precisely in this environment that Amprius grows its grapes, in the estates Mas d'en Roch and Mas d'en Jerra, situated between Calaceite and Arens de Lledó, on soils marked by ancient Celtiberian mounds that speak of a land with thousands of years of history behind it.
The philosophy of Amprius does not pursue easy wines or those that please everyone. Its motto —obsession with the singular— says it all. They produce wines with varieties that few wineries dare to work together: the native Garnacha of Aragón, with its powerful and fruity character; the Syrah, which finds a particularly elegant expression in Matarraña; the Burgundian-inspired Chardonnay; and the surprising Gewürztraminer, aromatic and complex, which in these latitudes acquires a personality that is hard to find in Spain. Award-winning wines with gold medals at international competitions such as Garnachas del Mundo and recognized with the Calidad del Matarraña distinction.
The Amprius catalog is divided into two lines with their own character. The Amprius range —Garnacha and Gewürztraminer— represents the highest expression of terroir, author wines made with selected estate grapes and designed for those seeking depth and uniqueness. The Hazlo Pícaro range —Garnacha, Syrah Garnacha, and Chardonnay— is more accessible but equally honest, with the same raw materials and the same rigor in the winery. Added to these two lines is the Vermú Gaire, made with their own grapes and selected botanicals, and the limited edition sparkling Brigantia, made with cold-pressed red grapes to obtain an unusually elegant blanc de noirs.
Amprius is, in short, a winery that makes the territory its main argument. It does not seek to imitate any known style or pay homage to any established denomination of origin. It operates outside the major circuits, in a region that still holds many secrets to discover, with varieties that find unique conditions here and with a way of understanding wine that prioritizes land, time, and authenticity over any trend. Every bottle of Amprius is an invitation to discover Matarraña as it is: singular, profound, and unforgettable.
