Alvar de Dios Vagüera 2023 is an exceptional white wine that embodies the essence of the terroir of Castilla y León. This wine, meticulously crafted by winemaker Álvar de Dios Hernández, comes from a small pre-phylloxera vineyard in El Maderal, a protected area with cork oaks that allows for careful grape maturation. The grapes are grown in red clay soils at a notable altitude of 950 meters, producing a wine characterized by its freshness and balanced acidity. The production of Vagüera follows a philosophy of minimal intervention, applying ecological and biodynamic practices to respect the vineyard's biodiversity. The harvest is done manually, selecting the highest quality bunches. In the winery, the grapes are pressed without destemming, and the must ferments spontaneously with native yeasts in used French oak barrels. After aging for at least 12 months on its fine lees, Vagüera results in a luscious wine with unparalleled aromatic complexity.
