Red wine from the AOP Côte-Rôtie, 2023 vintage, made by Domaine Rostaing mainly from Syrah. It blends parcels from the northern Rhône and is aged in oak with minimal new wood. It stands out for black fruit, floral and spicy notes, freshness and fine tannins.
Domaine Rostaing Côte-Rôtie Ampodium 2023 is the flagship wine of René and Pierre Rostaing. It brings together in one bottle the blend of 13 to 20 lieux-dits from the AOP Côte-Rôtie, on the schist and granite terraces of the northern Rhône. It is made almost entirely from Syrah; some vintages may include a small proportion of Viognier. Traditional vinification with partial whole clusters and aging in oak with minimal new wood preserve fruit, freshness and minerality. Deep ruby in color with violet highlights, it offers blackberry, cassis and blueberry, flowers, black pepper, liquorice, graphite and smoky, meaty notes. On the palate it combines medium-full body, vibrant acidity and fine but firm tannins, with a long, spicy finish. The description highlights its evolution toward game, leather and truffle notes after 10–15 years in bottle. Serve at 16 °C and decant 60 to 90 minutes before serving. It pairs with grilled red meats, roast lamb, duck breast, small game, venison, pepper-based stews and wild mushrooms, as well as aged hard cheeses.
