Finca Calvestra Blanco Margas is a white wine produced by Bodegas Mustiguillo with the Merseguera variety.
Vineyard: Mediterranean mountain vineyard, at 900 m altitude. In Calvestra estate, Requena. Merseguera grafted on old Bobal vines. Vineyards in a small plot with soils composed exclusively of marl. Vines in strict dry farming with tillage. This is a small plot composed exclusively of loams. The loams are very special clays, converted into rock by the passage of time and saturated in calcite. This very interesting soil gives the Merseguera a markedly mineral character that makes it different from anything produced to date.
Winemaking: Cluster selection table, destemmed and lightly crushed. Gentle pressing. Fermentation in 500 litre barrels with indigenous yeast. Aged for 11 months on fine lees in 500-litre acacia barrels of various uses, second year of ageing in tank. Subsequent maturation in the bottle for two more years.
The Finca Calvestra Blanco, produced by Bodega Mustiguillo, is one of the finest expressions of the Merseguera variety, an indigenous Valencian grape that has been rescued from oblivion.
Coming from high-altitude vineyards located in the Finca Calvestra, over 900 meters above sea level, this white wine reflects the unique identity of its terroir, with a perfect combination of freshness, minerality, and complexity.
Aged in French oak barrels on fine lees, Finca Calvestra is a limited-production gastronomic white, ideal for lovers of elegant and characterful wines.
Appearance: Straw-yellow color with golden reflections, bright and clear.
Aroma: Subtle and complex aromas with notes of white flowers, stone fruits (apricot, peach), and citrus, accompanied by mineral hints and a slight presence of nuts and vanilla due to its barrel aging.
Palate: Fresh and balanced entry, with vibrant acidity that enhances its elegance. Silky texture with a long and persistent finish, where citrus and mineral notes re-emerge.
