Nikka Single Malt Miyagikyo is a Japanese whisky made exclusively from selected malted barley at the Miyagikyo distillery, founded in 1969 by Masataka Taketsuru in Miyagi prefecture. It is distilled in copper pot stills heated by indirect steam at low temperature and matured in American oak casks and ex-Oloroso sherry casks. Amber in color with golden and coppery highlights, it offers aromas of orange blossom, jasmine, pear, green apple and candied orange, with honey, cocoa and toasted wood. On the palate it is silky, with ripe fruit, raisins, vanilla, toffee and praline almond; its long finish recalls cinnamon, liquorice and bitter cocoa.
