Zacapa Instead of molasses, Zacapa uses 'virgin honey', obtained from the first pressing of sugar cane, and subjects it to an aging process known as solera, where it is stored in barrels previously used to age American whiskeys, sherry wines, Pedro Ximénez and cognac.
The secret of Zacapa lies in its slow aging process in the cold lands of the Guatemalan highlands, at an altitude of 2,300 meters, which allows for an exceptional balance between the aromas and flavors developed during the process. Ron Zacapa Centenario XO has a mahogany color with intense red nuances, the result of its prolonged period of aging in barrels. On the nose, it reveals a harmonious combination of mature oak wood, toasted caramel, toasted nuts, marzipan and orange peel. In the mouth, it unfolds like a smooth and sweet rum with long notes of chocolate, black cherries and intense aromas of dried fruits such as raisins, dates and plums. The best way to enjoy it is to serve it neat in a heavy-bottomed rocks glass.
