For hundreds of years, walnuts have been obtained in Spain from isolated trees for domestic consumption, although gradually extensive plantations are being introduced. Despite the fact that production has continued to grow, walnut consumption has increased more intensively, mainly due to the promotion of nut consumption in Europe and the United States as beneficial foods for health.
