The B.R.O.T. Pet Nat is a naturally sparkling wine handmade by the BROT project located in Masquefa, near the Montserrat mountain in Catalonia. This wine aims to break away from traditional methods, opting for minimal intervention production, which enhances the richness and authenticity of the grape. The blend of this Pet Nat includes Macabeo and Riesling, with proportions varying by vintage. The grapes used come from vineyards cultivated under organic certification, following biodynamic practices. This careful cultivation translates to low yields, allowing for superior concentration and quality of the fruit, which is grown in clay and limestone soils that lend a mineral character to the wine. Harvesting is done manually, selecting each variety at its optimal ripeness. The wine is produced using the ancestral method known as Pétillant Naturel, where the must initiates spontaneous fermentation in stainless steel tanks. Before the process concludes, the wine is bottled, enabling fermentation to continue in the bottle, naturally generating carbon dioxide. Since the wine is not disgorged, it may appear slightly cloudy, which is completely consistent with its style. On the nose, the B.R.O.T. Pet Nat is expressive and fresh, offering aromas of white fruits like pear and green apple, along with stone fruits like apricot, subtle herbaceous notes, and an aniseed background. On the palate, a soft and natural bubble is perceived, alongside balanced acidity and an agile profile, with citrusy hints reminiscent of lemon and light balsamic touches.
