Castell d’Encús Thalarn is a single-varietal Syrah, an exceptional wine from the D.O. Costers del Segre. With freshness and tension, this high-mountain wine stands out for its aromatic complexity and its aging of 12 months in French oak barrels.
Castell d’Encús Thalarn is a red wine made exclusively from Syrah grapes, representing the ultimate expression of high-altitude viticulture in the Denomination of Origin Costers del Segre. This wine is produced by Raül Bobet in Talarn, in vineyards located between 850 and 1,000 meters above sea level, where the climatic conditions and the composition of the calcareous soil contribute to outstanding freshness and tension. The vinification process is highly careful and unique, combining spontaneous fermentations in 12th-century stone presses, which have been excavated in rock, along with the use of wooden vats and stainless steel tanks. Subsequently, the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation and aging for 12 months in French oak barrels. In appearance, it presents an intense red-violet color. On the nose, a complex profile unfolds with notes of ripe black fruits, chocolate, clove, and white pepper, accompanied by floral and underbrush nuances. On the palate, its vibrant and silky character offers nerve, with marked acidity and sweet tannins, finishing with a long and persistent aftertaste reminiscent of licorice. This wine is ideal for those seeking a unique and memorable tasting experience.
