Origin and producers:
This mezcal is produced in San Miguel Ejutla, Oaxaca, by a cooperative formed by over 35 local families who practice sustainable and fair trade production. They use traditional methods: stone oven fueled with firewood, tahona pulled by a donkey, fermentation in wooden vats, and distillation in copper stills.
Coupage and alcohol content:
It is composed of 90% agave Espadín (7 years) and 10% agave Barril (12 years), with an alcohol content of 42% ABV.
Tasting notes:
Nose: Floral and fruity, with notes of pineapple, banana, lime, and white pepper, accompanied by a light smoky note and a subtle earthy background.
Palate: Smooth and round, with tropical flavors—pineapple, banana—combined with herbal notes, subtle smoky touches, and a light minerality. The texture is creamy, with a persistent finish and a slight sweetness.
Awards and recognition:
Winner of the Double Gold Medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2017 for its exceptional quality.
Usage and pairing:
Perfect for sipping on its own thanks to its smoothness, although it also adapts well as a base in cocktails like margaritas or palomas. Ideal for those new to the world of mezcal and for creative mixology.
