Josep Grau Efecte Volador is a young red wine with light aging, designed to highlight the freshness and vibrant character of the D.O. Montsant. Produced by Josep Grau Viticultor in Marçà, it is primarily made from Garnacha Negra and Cariñena, grapes from organic vineyards aged 15 to 40 years grown in clay-limestone soils. The winery, adhering to a minimal intervention philosophy, avoids over-ripening by opting for early harvesting that preserves natural acidity and fruit expression. The production of Efecte Volador is delicate; fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts in cement and stainless steel tanks, preventing wood notes and preserving varietal purity. The wine undergoes a short aging of 6 months in these same tanks, resulting in an honest and authentic product. In the glass, it shows a bright ruby color with medium depth and notable clarity. Its aroma is an explosion of fresh red fruit such as cherries and raspberries, accompanied by floral notes of violet and a background of Mediterranean herbs that add complexity despite its youth. On the palate, the wine stands out for its dynamism: a soft entry, an agile passage, and a citrus acidity inviting further sipping.
