The Ratafia Raiers Reserva de l'Avi Joan is a limited and numbered edition produced by the historic distillery Portet 1883 in La Pobla de Segur. This artisanal liqueur pays tribute to Joan Portet, the founder of the family legacy, and is crafted following an ancestral recipe that macerates green walnuts along with a carefully selected blend of over twenty herbs, roots, and spices. Its distinguishing characteristic is the long aging process of two years in oak barrels, which gives it a much more mature, complex, and elegant profile than a conventional ratafia. On the nose, it offers deep notes of licorice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and a balsamic background, while on the palate, it is dense, velvety, and has a long finish where the toasted wood reappears.
