Viña Tondonia Blanco Gran Reserva 2004 is a white wine from R. López de Heredia Viña Tondonia, a winery linked to the traditional winemaking of Rioja. It comes from estate vineyards in Rioja Alta and is made mainly from Viura, with Malvasía. After fermentation in large wooden vats, it ages for approximately ten years in used American oak barrels, with periodic racking. Further bottle aging completes its maturation before release. It has an intense golden colour with amber highlights. The nose reveals honey, dried fruit, ripe citrus and beeswax, along with spicy and woody notes. On the palate it is dry, enveloping and elegant, with a silky texture and balanced acidity. The finish is very persistent, with mineral and slightly saline hints. A wine with personality and aging potential, ideal for special occasions. It pairs well with noble fish, seafood, rice dishes, poultry, white meats and aged cheeses.
