True to its commitment to the production of high quality extra virgin olive oil and to the protection and care of the environment and olive groves, Castillo de Canena launches its first extra virgin olive oil "Biodynamic", certified by the International Biodynamic Agriculture Association with the DEMETER seal.
This arbequina extra virgin olive oil is produced through complete integration and harmony with the ecosystem, natural habitat, and cosmos, enriching the concept of organic agriculture.
An exquisite oil that has just won a Gold medal in the latest edition of the international EcoTrama competition, which awards the best organic and biodynamic extra virgin olive oils in the world.
With a limited production of 20,000 units, it is presented in a white bottle with a sandy texture, reminiscent of the origins of agriculture. It is screen-printed with the moon and stars constellation, representing cosmic forces and those of the earth itself.
Beyond organic:
Biodynamic agriculture not only involves the total exclusion of synthetic fertilizers or pesticides in farming, but also an absolute transformation of the environment in which it is produced.
Biodynamic agriculture is a firm step forward from the organic cultivation method based on the harmonization between the different forces that govern nature: atmospheric phenomena, seasons, position of constellations in the cosmos, lunar cycles, seeking balance between soil, trees, animals, and man. From the incorporation of sheep into the farm, creating their own compost, enriching plant cover through bee hives installation, biological fight, foliar use of silica (ground quartz) instead of copper, and the application of different biodynamic preparations, are some of the elements added to the specifics of organic agriculture that Castillo de Canena incorporates.
In the mouth:
Vegetal notes of herbs and vegetables predominate in this fresh, lively, and expressive oil. Very balanced, with a moderately pronounced bitterness and spiciness that is very pleasant. We also note hints of green apples, banana peel, tomato plant, and even a citrus touch. Persistent in the mouth.
Color: Bright green.
Usage suggestions: Salad dressings, tomato soup, gazpacho, cheeses, ham, toast, and all kinds of grilled meats.
High polyphenol content (760 ppm of the 436 are biophenols). High percentage of antioxidants.
Acidity: 0.18
Castillo de Canena is a family company with a long history in the world of extra virgin olive oil production. The estate is located in Jaén, and its olive trees are nourished by the Guadiana Menor River.
