El Espinois a concentratedRiberawith aromas of black and red fruit accompanied by spicy notes and mineral and toasted hints. The palate is deep, fresh and balanced. A medium-bodied wine with a broad entry, a savory palate and a long, elegant finish.
The village of Anguix is a municipality located in the province of Burgos, in the autonomous community of Castilla y León, in northern Spain. Although it is not widely known as an internationally renowned wine-producing municipality, it is located in an area that is part of the prestigious Ribera del Duero Designation of Origin. And it is here where, after several attempts that did not meet the expectations of its owners, Áster found its perfect location to build its new generation facilities. A task that was not easy at all, because to find the perfect terroir they had to rely on the advice of old winegrowers and the advice of viticulture professors. Specializing in red wines made mainly with the tempranillo grape variety, known locally as tinto fino, their wines are usually appreciated for their fruity character, structure, complexity and aging capacity.
This is where Áster El Espino is born, a red wine from 95 hectares of vineyards located between the municipalities of La Horra and Anguix. Tempranillo vines were planted in 1991 on clay-loam soil at an altitude of 780 meters above sea level. It is cultivated in a traditional way and the grapes are harvested by hand in boxes of 20 kilograms and undergo an exhaustive selection process. In the winery the grapes are selected, destemmed and cold macerated. Fermentation is carried out by parcels in stainless steel tanks and, after blending, 50% undergoes malolactic fermentation in tanks and two-use French oak barrels. Finally, the wine is aged for 12 months in French oak barrels, 20% new, with two manual rackings.
Relying on the masterly advice of the village elders, Áster El Espino is a wine that comes from a unique terroir that drinks from the vigor, power and elegance that have made the wines of Ribera del Duero so famous.
