Aster Finca El Otero 2021 is the flagship wine of the Áster winery, located in Anguix, Burgos, within the D.O. Ribera del Duero. It belongs to the prestigious La Rioja Alta S.A. group. The wine is made from Tempranillo grapes grown in the El Otero estate, a unique 7.5-hectare vineyard on gentle slopes. The over 50-year-old vines flourish in poor soils, enhancing grape concentration. After a manual harvest and rigorous selection, the grapes are cold macerated before fermenting in stainless steel. Malolactic fermentation and 16 months of aging take place in new French oak barrels, adding significant aromatic complexity. Notes of blackberry, currant, tobacco, and spices such as white pepper and nutmeg enrich its aroma. On the palate, it is powerful and broad, with ripe tannins and a long finish featuring balsamic and mineral hints. Ideal to pair with red meats and aged cheeses, this wine offers excellent aging potential, evolving favorably for over a decade.
