Ricardo Diogo represents the third generation of Barbeito, an emblematic winery on the Portuguese island of Madeira.
Its Frasqueira Sercial 1988 is one of its oenological jewels. The Frasqueira category is awarded to vintage wines that have been aged for at least 20 years in traditional "pipas" or very old French oak barrels, where a very slow and controlled oxidation takes place by the traditional "canteiro" method.
The grapes of the white Sercial variety come from small vineyards in the municipality of Seixal, owned by the winegrower Manuel Eugénio Fernandes.
In March 2023, only 320 units were bottled of a wine that thrills with its complexity and incredible freshness. Once the bottle is opened, it can be enjoyed for several months.
