Baynos Tinto 2020 is a red wine produced by Bodegas Mauro , the Rioja project of the García family, located in Baños de Ebro in Rioja Alavesa. The wine aims to express the character of the local soils and the old vineyards of the area through a careful and terroir-driven approach.
The grapes come from a group of small plots around Baños de Ebro, many of them planted 40 to 100 years ago and trained as traditional bush vines. These vineyards grow on clay-rich soils , which contribute structure and depth while maintaining freshness in the wine.
The grapes are hand-harvested and fermented with native yeasts in concrete tanks , preserving the purity of the fruit and the vineyard character. After fermentation and malolactic conversion, the wine is aged for around 20 months in French oak barrels , where it develops complexity and structure before bottling.
On the nose it reveals aromas of ripe red and black fruits, floral notes and liquorice , accompanied by subtle spice and mineral nuances. On the palate it is balanced, elegant and concentrated , with silky tannins, vibrant freshness and a long, refined finish.
It pairs beautifully with red meats, game dishes, hearty stews and aged cheeses , and it has excellent ageing potential in bottle.
