This Barco del Corneta wine is intense and delicious. With aromas from its barrel aging and notes of fresh fruit , this white wine is perfect for rediscovering the Verdejo grape variety.
Barco del Corneta 2018 is a white wine from the D.O. Rueda produced by the Barco del Corneta winery, a project of winemaker Beatriz Herranz. It is produced with 100% Verdejo from old vines planted on ungrafted foot in the area of La Seca, on sandy soils that allow the character of the variety and the vineyard to be expressed with great purity.
The grapes are harvested by hand and fermented with indigenous yeasts in large oak barrels , where the wine remains for several months on its lees. This work provides greater complexity, texture and depth, moving away from the lighter, more aromatic style usually found in young Verdejo wines.
The nose shows an elegant and complex profile, with aromas of white fruit, citrus notes, herbal nuances and a very characteristic mineral background. The palate is ample and structured, with good acidity, creamy texture and a long, lingering finish. A serious and gastronomic Verdejo, ideal to accompany fish, seafood, rice or white meats.
